I take my car in to get the oil changed. I know how to do it and I’ve done it before. I was also an aircraft mechanic in the USAF, so I know my way around tools, and I am not afraid to get dirty.

Do you prefer a big car or a little car?

So maybe with the price of gasoline these days this is a stupid question, but at Jiffy Lube we want to know--if the price of fuel were not an issue which would you choose, a small car or a big one?

The way we see it they both have advantages. There is something really cute about a Mini-Cooper or Smart Car. And a little Porche is hot, hot, hot! They are easy to park and great for darting in and out of traffic. And with todays safety features they can get surprisingly good safety ratings!

Is it time to service your car transmission?

Automatic transmission fluid lubricates, cools and cleans internal components of the transmission. It also helps to maintain the hydraulic pressure necessary for the transmission to function. The additives in the transmission fluid can be depleted over time. The automatic transmission filter helps remove dirt and contaminants from the automatic transmission fluid.

You should regularly flush the transmission fluid every 20 to 40 thousand miles. But be careful. If you haven't done it for a long time you should check with a qualified technician before hand. If you have neglected this service the transmission can develop scale deposits and flushing the fluid can introduce fresh new detergents that will cause this scale to break away and damage components and plates. It has now been 8 months since the law banning texting while driving went into effect in Indiana. In case the threat of a police car’s lights in your rear view mirror is not enough to convince you, here are a few facts about why no one should text and drive. According to a study published in Car and Driver, June 2009, a driver’s reaction time while texting is 2 to 3 times longer than when they are DRUNK!  If you are going 35 mph that increased reaction time could put you over 160 feet further down the road. At 70 mph it would be close to 300 feet and that kind of distance at either speed could certainly cost people their lives. Both socially and legally, drunk driving is completely unacceptable.
